Sarge

When Homer had been with us a few months we realized we really needed another dog, but were going to do some more research before seriously looking. We had to return some items at Petco and there was Sarge, standing pathetically at the front of the store. He was homeless and needed a home. The next day we were headed out to the rescue woman’s house to pick him up! He had just been neutered and looked even more pathetic!
Sarge is one of those unique dogs that you will never find another one like! He just goes with the flow and is more of a people dog than a dog dog. So another words, when we would go to the dog park he would stand at the gate and greet all the new people entering while all 30 of the other hounds were wildly running in a pack howling.
Sarge’s one main complaint is that he HATES rain!!! He will do anything and everything to try to not have to go outside in it. He has invented stooping (stealth pooping), which he would definitely win a gold metal in if it was an olympic sport!

Sarge also has some health conditions that makes his life a little tough, but manageable. He has stress induced colitis which makes traveling with him very interesting. He is a home body and would much rather just stay home rather than go with us places. He also started to have seizures a few years back but luckily they have been easily controlled with phenobarbital.

After loosing Homer in March it seemed that Sarge was depressed. He still had Gerdie and Oliver in the house but to him it wasn’t the same as his having his buddy Homer around. Little did we know that Maddie would come into our lives and end up changing Sarge’s life so dramatically. They are like a younger and older version of each other with a lot of the same personality traits.
Sarge will be 11yrs old this year and we are hoping that we will have many more years with the old man!
